Pre-programming Flow
SST's Pre-programming service incorporates a customer data
pattern into the devices before shipment. This pattern replaces
the normal FF pattern in shipped devices. This
service is offered for all package types and speed grades. Please
refer to SST's data sheets for valid combinations of part
numbers.
Ordering SST Devices Using the Pre-programming
Service
The following procedure outlines the method for ordering SST
devices using the Pre-programming service.
1. Initiate Contact
Customer shall contact local SST sales representative
describing the desire for the service. The sales representative
will note Pre-programming is a custom requirement and
requires the following activities. Note: Attached is the Factory Pre-Programming Request
Form. Please provide the information requested in the
Pre-programming Requirements section. This
information is need by SST to process the request. (The
information can be provided as a separate communication or as a
partially filled out form.)
2. Send the Code
The customer will provide master copies of each code being
ordered to field sales representative as indicate in the
Pre-programming Requirements section of the
Factory Pre-Programming Request Form. The field sales
representative will send these copies and the request to SST
Customer Support. SST requires these devices to generate the
Final Test and Electrical Quality Control test programs. The
preferred order of master data format is: 1) three devices, 2)
Binary file, 3) Intel hex file. Please be sure the checksum is
clearly identified on each master device or file.
Master devices should use the SST device requested or another
manufacturer direct replacement device. The alternative device
type need to be readable to SST and must be pin-to-pin, as well
as read functional compatible. If questions arise about device
compatibility with SST device, please contact SSTs Customer
Support Department at (408) 735-9110.
3. Verification
SST verifies that all masters contain the same code to be
certain that handling errors or miswriting of the data have not
occurred. After verification, a unique custom part number is
assigned and documented in a SST internal custom number
specification (c-spec). SST then generates 11 verification
devices. Six of these devices are retained by SST internally
(e.g. for correlation). SST will ship five of these devices,
along with one of the original master devices (or data file) and
a Response Form to the customer for verification through the
field sales representative. SST will provide the customer with
the unique custom part (c-spec) number to be used for future
orders. Note: The remaining master devices will remain at SST for
correlation, if required.
4. Confirm Verification and Place the
Order
Once the verification devices are validated, the customer
shall notify the sales representative that customer has approved
SSTs Pre-programmed process. The customer can either
provide the sales representative with a signed Response Form, or
written/verbal confirmation. When ordering Pre-programmed
devices, customer shall use the unique c-spec part number on the
customers purchase order. Upon receipt of the purchase
order, SST enters the order and begins production. The
customers master code and correlation devices are
maintained for a period of one year and if no purchase order is
placed within that period, the code and samples (or files) will
be deleted.
5. Custom Label Identification
SST will label the shipping boxes to indicate the boxes
contain Pre-programmed devices with the c-spec number appended to
the part number.
Terms and Conditions
The following items, in addition to SSTs standard terms
and conditions apply when ordering memory devices using
SSTs Pre-programming service.
1. SST will maintain customer code confidentiality.
2. SST will absorb all NRE costs to generate custom test
programs and shipping labels.
3. All orders are subject to minimum quantities. The minimum
quantity for initial and subsequent orders and shipments is 5,000
devices.
4. SST may begin production up to 30 days in advance of the SST
scheduled ship date covered by a purchase order, thus requires 30
days minimum notification before the SST scheduled ship date for
code changes. The customer is liable for all work-in-process
within 30 days covered by the same purchase order.
5. No schedule changes may be made within 30 days of the SST
scheduled ship date.
6. All unencapsulated die product purchased by the customer is
for use exclusively in the customer's end products. SST must
